NSW State Forests

When the Forestry Corporation of NSW contacted Mobiddiction to develop a mobility solution, they wanted to make mobile a part of the user experience in NSW forests. They wanted a utility for visitors to view and navigate recreational areas and points of interest. This would be their first public facing app.

Part of the FCNSW campaign, My Visit – NSW celebrates State Forests as the place to go for an abundance of nature-based opportunities.

Visitors can discover a rainforest, explore a walking track, go bushwalking with dogs (where permitted on a leash) or get their heart pumping on a cross-country horse-ride. They can fish in a river, take a dip in a creek, listen to stillness broken by birdsong or even enjoy the roar and spectacle of rally cars racing full throttle over open forest roads.

The app enhances these experiences by providing forest information and maps at visitors’ fingertips.

A key requirement of the brief was the maps in the app needed to work offline. There is either no mobile network or intermittent coverage in some state forests.

FCNSW chose Mobiddiction to deliver this solution because we are perceived as the mobility experts. FCNSW felt they they could rely on an experienced technology partner as they were embarking on this journey for the first time.

View photos and information about forest visitor facilities, activities and points of interest. Also view current forest news and event information, while keeping informed about any closures or changed conditions in forests you plan to visit.

Download detailed forest maps (for free) to be used later with no internet connection. Maps and content updated regularly. You can also use the app to navigate forest roads and trails.

Share your forest experience with other visitors by connecting to social media in the app.

Visitors can download detailed ESRI forest maps for offline use. The enterprise-grade PaaS Mobiconnect platform manages the downloads of the latest ESRI maps.

Mobiddiction continues to support and manage the My Visit – NSW State Forests app for the Department of Forestry. The mobility solution enhances visitors’ enjoyment of NSW state forests.
